Art not Science…
What we do at Engage is help our clients navigate the changing financial landscape by providing them bespoke advice, tailored to their specific needs and keeping them on their path to whatever success looks like for them.
Sounds pretty simple, or at least I hope it does.
What’s difficult in our world is that the future is fully 100% unknown.
I don’t know how long our clients are going to live, I don’t know what the investment markets will return, I don’t know if AI is going to take over their job. I don’t know if or when they might receive an inheritance from an elderly family member… You get the point!
We have to embrace the uncertainty.
We create financial modelling systems for clients that have ‘what if’ scenarios built in. We don’t know when those ‘what if’s’ might come to life, but that’s the beauty of planning. It’s ongoing and iterative. In lots of annual reviews, not much has changed and we carry on building. However, in some periods there is lots of change and we need to amend the plan. We can model the changes, see the various impacts and pivot direction if need be.
Together with the families we look after, we think through the projected outcomes, we discuss potential trade-offs and we move forward with more clarity and financial comfort.
We know there will be future twists in the road but each time we are there to provide the needed guidance.
In our world, it’s rarely a black or white decision. It’s often grey. In a world of immediate answers from Chat GPT or various sources on social media/threads on reddit, life is not always as simple as knowing the answer – it’s about continually asking the right questions.
